This project is an artistic exploration by Inga Skripka, which led her to a personal discovery: the handwoven fabrics created by her grandmother, Marcelė. Unfortunately, her grandmother had already passed away by the time Inga found these woven pieces. In an effort to better understand her grandmother’s craft, Inga began traveling across Lithuania, seeking out traditional weavers who could share insights into the symbolism, patterns, colors, and techniques behind their work. The scarves are one of the outcomes of her artistic research.
These scarves were created from leftover scraps, carefully selected and preserved as part of a clothing collection designed by Inga, which incorporated her grandmother Marcelė’s woven fabrics. The project also includes scraps brought in by the grandchildren of other weavers. Inga’s careful curation of these remnants honors the weavers and their legacy.
The pieces- each unique- represent different regions of Lithuania, showcasing the rich diversity of its weaving traditions.

This is part of an artistic research project. The artist Inga Skripka travels across Lithuanian regions, searching for traditional weavers. One of them is Verutė, a vibrant 93-year-old weaver full of energy, who eagerly agreed to collaborate with Inga. Verutė unraveled a pile of sweaters to have yarn for weaving fabric on her hand loom. She created fabrics so that Inga could design a clothing collection, similar to the one created from her grandmother’s woven fabrics.
Verutė was very fond of the collection, and over the course of a year, she wove a limited number of fabrics with her hand loom, each featuring different patterns and colors. The colors and designs of these scarves were inspired by Verutė’s woven fabrics to raise funds for creating the collection.

Fabric: 100% polyster
Dimensions: (70x70cm)
