This project is an artistic exploration by Inga Skripka, which led her to a personal discovery: the handwoven fabrics created by her grandmother, Marcelė. Unfortunately, her grandmother had already passed away by the time Inga found these woven pieces. In an effort to better understand her grandmother’s craft, Inga began traveling across Lithuania, seeking out traditional weavers who could share insights into the symbolism, patterns, colors, and techniques behind their work. The scarves are one of the outcomes of her artistic research.
These scarves were created from leftover scraps, carefully selected and preserved as part of a clothing collection designed by Inga, which incorporated her grandmother Marcelė’s woven fabrics. The project also includes scraps brought in by the grandchildren of other weavers. Inga’s careful curation of these remnants honors the weavers and their legacy.
The pieces- each unique- represent different regions of Lithuania, showcasing the rich diversity of its weaving traditions.

This product was born when I decided to refurbish an armchair at home. While searching for the perfect fabric, my eyes were drawn to animal prints – they have always been my “guilty pleasure.”Driven by curiosity, I decided to create this garment using cow print fabric. I first designed and tested it for myself, and now I’m excited to share the opportunity for you to own one too!The design is unique, and the jacket is both stylish and incredibly comfortable. These tapestries were created in Lithuanian factories. Many people undervalue them, calling them “factory-made” or “industrial.” However, in my opinion, they are just as valuable as the handwoven works of our grandmothers.
After meeting Vita, a weaver who worked her entire life at the Klaipėda weaving factory “Audėjas,” I realized their significance. At that time, the weavers at the factory had completed weaving studies that lasted five years (the same duration as today’s bachelor’s degree in medicine). During their studies, they not only learned how to weave but also delved into the secrets of composition, drew intricate patterns, and studied theory. Vita’s knowledge of patterns clearly demonstrates this.
I’m not saying that these “Divonai” are equivalent to our grandmothers’ handmade works—I believe they shouldn’t even be compared. However, factory-made textiles should be valued just as much.
